XIX Flamenco Bienal Seville (September & October 2016)

The next 8th of September will open its gates the most artistic week in Seville: “The Flamenco Bienal”, finishing on October 2nd. This would be the XIX edition, consolidating itself with more success after every edition.

The Arts Initiative was born in 1979 where the Congress of Flamenco Activities shaped and mixed the flamenco with the plastic arts, poetry, theater and cinema.

The Bienal is becoming the international appointment for the flamenco lovers recreating itself every 2 years.

This year will open with the poet and novelist from Cádiz Antonio Hernández, delighting us with his gift of word with a very Andalusian flavor.cartel de la Bienal 2016

In the poster will be, between others, Eva Yerbabuena, Tomatito, Juana la Tobala, Vicente Amigo, Farruquito, Antonio Canales, Marina Heredia, José Mercé, Arcangel and much more.

Between all the very talented artists on the Bienal, it should have a special mention some of the days where we will see artists with a big repercussion on the flamenco history.

On September 12th at Maestranza Theater, the magistral dancer Eva Yerbabuena will inspire us with her majesty in “Apariencias”. The unique artist define the flamenco like the most contemporary thing, always without forgetting the origin of this art.

The unavoidable appointment of the flamenco dance would be on September 24th also at La Maestranza Theater with the strength of Farruquito. Iage of his grandfather´s art Farruco, Manuel Fernández Montoya was grown on a pure flamenco´s birthplace. We will fall in love with his dance “Baile Moreno”, full of strength and passion.farruquito bienal

On September 25th the very experienced Antonio Canales will be at Lope de Vega Theater delighting us with Trianero, with the most pure Sevillian style.Antonio canales bienal 2016And closing this event, we will have the pleasure of enjoy on October 2nd of “Antologia Del Cante Flamenco” with José Mercé & Pepe Habichuela and Antonio Higuero. A final touch that won´t disappoint anyone and it will make us dream with the most passionate flamenco notes.
